Lips
Initial Session: $500
This session is reserved for clients who have never had any previous work done on their lips or have had previous work removed.
If you have work from a previous artist and are requesting a cover-up initial session, please contact us prior to booking to confirm that you are ready for additional work and to determine if there will be an additional cost.
Beauty in the Ink cannot guarantee how long your results will last. Each individual has a different skin type, lifestyle, aftercare routine, and healing process.
Lip Contraindications
- Cold Sores: If you have had them or are prone to them, we REQUIRE that you take and complete an antiviral medication for 5 days (2 days before, the day of, and 2 days after the procedure).
Lip Pre-Care
- Avoid any vitamins, medications, or supplements that thin the blood or promote bleeding (e.g., Vitamin A, ibuprofen, aspirin, etc.).
- No caffeine or alcohol 48 hours before your appointment (these can thin the blood).
- Do not arrive with sunburned skin or lips.
- One week prior, start exfoliating your lips (use a sugar and oil scrub at home) to remove dead skin and hydrate the lips.
- Stay well-hydrated leading up to your appointment.
Lip Post-Care
- Lips will feel dry and tight throughout the healing process. Keep them hydrated as often as possible with the ointment provided. After using the provided ointment, you can switch to Aquaphor or another gentle lip hydrator.
- For lip hydration, avoid using any products that require dipping your fingers in—this increases the risk of infection.
- Avoid getting anything on your lips during the first 7-10 days of healing:
- Drink with a straw
- Avoid foods that require biting directly (e.g., burgers, sandwiches)
- Avoid spicy foods that may irritate the lips
- Be mindful of over-wiping your lips while eating
- No oral sex or intense kissing for 7-10 days.
- Before brushing your teeth, apply ointment to create a barrier, preventing bacteria from sitting on the lips.
- Do not pick, scratch, or peel the lips.
- Avoid swimming or submerging your face in water for 4 weeks.
- No smoking for 7-10 days.
- Protect your lips from the sun (avoid using topical SPF for the first 7-10 days).
What’s Normal?
- Swelling and tenderness—use an ice pack wrapped in a clean paper towel for relief. Apply ointment before icing to prevent the paper towel from sticking.
- Tightness & dryness in the lips.
- Mild scabbing and flaking during healing.
- Color changes throughout the healing process (this is normal).
